If you’re looking for UK data analyst jobs with visa sponsorship, start with the exact vacancy. Find the employer’s legal name, check the Home Office register, then read what the advert says about sponsorship for that job. If the advert is silent, ask about the requisition before spending time on a tailored application.
In Ashney’s 2 November 2026 snapshot, 53% of open roles were at employers it matched to the sponsor register. That figure describes employer matches. It does not count the vacancies for which employers agreed to sponsor a candidate.
What the UK data analyst snapshot counted
Ashney Market Watch’s 2 November issue reported 764 open roles across 461 companies. Ashney says it checks employers’ careers sites, excludes staffing agencies and counts a multi-city role once. The publication uses commercial data and an AI-written report. We checked the published figures and method, while the full set of postings was unavailable for independent audit.
The methodology describes matching employers to the government’s sponsor records. We use that narrower description throughout. A register match provides no evidence that an employer recently sponsored someone or filed for a particular role.

Only 12% of the listings stated pay. If an advert leaves pay blank, mark it as unknown and ask the employer. Avoid converting the rounded 53% or 12% into exact counts. The publisher’s issue is a dated snapshot, and its live page can change.
Check the two 30-day periods
Ashney reported 269 new postings in its latest 30-day period and 248 in the previous one. It says the same companies appear in both periods, so adding a new careers site would not drive this particular comparison.
The difference is 21 postings. Dividing 21 by the earlier 248 gives 8.47%, which the publisher rounded to 8%. This compares new postings among the companies tracked. It gives no count of hires, successful visa applications or sponsorship decisions.

Check the employer, vacancy and wording separately
First, record the exact job reference and the employer named on the advert. If the listing uses a brand, ask which legal entity employs the role. A parent company, subsidiary or similarly named business may appear under a different name.
Next, use the Home Office’s register of licensed worker sponsors. Record the entity you matched and the date you checked it. Leave the match unresolved if you cannot establish which legal employer the advert refers to.
Then read the full employer advert for the job duties, pay disclosure and sponsorship wording. The official Skilled Worker job guidance treats approval of the employer and eligibility of the job as separate checks. The vacancy worksheet helps organise evidence. It cannot determine immigration eligibility.

Record what the employer actually says
Use three vacancy statuses. Choose explicitly supported for consideration if the employer says it will consider sponsorship for this role. Choose explicitly unavailable if it rules sponsorship out for this role. Use not established when the advert is silent or unclear. Keep the employer’s register match in a separate field.

| Fictional example | Employer match | Vacancy evidence | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| A · Dashboard reporting | Match in example | Advert silent | Ask about the job reference |
| B · Operations analysis | Match in example | Employer rules sponsorship out | Record the explicit answer |
| C · Reporting automation | Match in example | Employer says it will consider sponsorship | Confirm the statement applies to this exact job |
Each example has the same register outcome. Yet the vacancy evidence differs. If you have a recruiter’s reply, save its date and the requisition it refers to. A generic answer about company policy may not resolve an individual posting.
Ask a focused question before tailoring the application
Try a question that gives the recruiter the exact reference. For example, “Would you consider sponsorship for this specific data analyst vacancy, and which legal entity would employ the successful candidate?” If the job description gives only a broad title, also ask for the responsibilities and any pay range the employer can share.
If the employer cannot clarify, keep the status open. Check another listing instead of treating a company’s presence on the register as a promise. For a separate look at UK entry routes, see our entry-level technology jobs analysis.

Our source table records the published November 2 issue, its measures and their units. We reproduce the posting change from the two reported counts. We did not collect a new advert sample or audit the publisher’s employer matches. The three worksheet rows are fictional.
